Your hostess, Cacilia

A host's home,
not a hotel.

Cacilia Honisch has welcomed travellers into her log house in Tlell for years — the kind of place where guests share a big living room, swap beach finds over breakfast, and settle into the quiet rhythm of the island. German is spoken here, and everyone gets a warm welcome at the door.

The house is built for gathering: room enough for a family, a group of friends, or a small retreat, all under one honey-logged roof beside the sea.

The log house

Big timber, warm rooms.

Two storeys of honey-coloured logwood, a fireplace to gather round, and a whole house with room to spread out — the beach on one side, the spruce on the other.

The great room

A generous log-walled living room with a fireplace at its heart — space enough for a whole group to spread out with a book, a board game, or a plan for tomorrow’s beach walk.

Rooms under the rafters

Seven guest rooms in the big log house, four of them with a private bath, and a friendly, family feeling among guests. Simple, warm and quiet — the way a log house should be.

Retreats & gatherings

With space for groups of ten to fifteen, the house has long hosted workshops, seminars, retreats and small weddings — a whole log home to make your own for a few days.

The Tlell coast

Dunes, spruce & a slow river.

Nestled among the dunes and tall spruce on the east coast of Haida Gwaii, with the beach a short walk away and the Tlell River winding quietly to the sea.

The beach & the dunes

The house sits nestled in rolling sand dunes beside Hecate Strait — the beach is a short walk away through the marram grass, with driftwood, big skies and long, empty stretches to wander.

Tlell River & Naikoon

Tlell is a small arts community at the edge of Naikoon Provincial Park, where the slow Tlell River meanders to the sea past the old Pesuta shipwreck — spruce forest, river trails and studios, all close by.

Morning on Hecate Strait

This is the east coast of Haida Gwaii, so the light comes up over the water — coffee on the porch as the sun lifts over Hecate Strait, before the day opens onto the beach.
